Over billion rupees invested in Baglung hotels

Hospitality industry of Baglung is attracting new investments buoyed by the increment in number of visitors. The district has around 200 hotels where more than Rs 1 billion has been invested. 

While existing hotels are expanding their capacity by adding rooms, new luxurious hotels having modern amenities are also coming up to cater to the need of tourists.

Hotel Red Apple started operation two years ago with an investment of Rs 50 million. Similarly, Hotel the Rajan came into service some months ago. Youth entrepreneur Rajan Shakya has invested Rs 30 million in the hotel. Tourists heading to Muktinath and Panchakot form Hotel the Rajan's major clientele. 

Hotel the Rajan boasts of a seminar hall capable of seating 300 people at a time. It has 16 air-conditioned rooms and an in-house restaurant serving Nepali, Indian,Chinese and continental food. The hotel currently employs 12 local youths.

Likewise,feeling pressure from new hotels, existing hotels are also expanding rooms and upgrading their facilities. Hotels like Hotel Peace Palace are busy adding new facilities and improving its interior decoration. 

“It is of paramount importance that we offer superior service to our client,” Arjun Chokhal, the promoter of Hotel Summit Dhaulagiri, told Republica. “We are seeing increased footfalls of tourists due to construction of mid-hills highway, publicity of pilgrimage sites like Baglung Kalika and theunder-construction Panchakot.”

Nilesh Rajbhandari, president of Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baglung, said some entrepreneurs have made a fortune by catering to tourists. “Baglung can accommodate 3,000 visitors at a time. It has 50 air-conditioned rooms, 500 rooms with attached bathrooms and over 2,000 normal rooms,” he added.

Hotel Red Apple, Peace Palace, Summit Dhaulagiri, Shital Party Palace and Hotel Jaya,among others, are considered accommodations having modern and best facilities in the district.
